today's flower: chrysanthemum

i am not really a fan of chrysanthemums! yeah, yeah: they DO provide fall color, but asters are more my style: mums tend to fall over if not clipped and clipped all summer, and i always seem to forget!

but one of my neighbors obviously knows how to treat them as i stumbled upon this huge poof of lilac-pink ones: lovely!

brookside gardens

today you can feel fall in the air.

the leaves are just beginning to get color and the wind is blowing them off of the trees and swirling them around the streets.

one of my favorite places to visit during this season is brookside gardens.

this public garden has so many lovely plantings set in wonderful vignettes which showcase all the beauty of autumn.
