other than the sugar maples, we are not seeing a lot of color around here yet...which is fine by me: hold off winter til the last second, please! while weeding today, i found this blazing leaf in the middle-at the bottom-of my completely still green dwarf fothergilla. a peak at things to come.

cherry blossoms
the heat...the wind...the rain...the wind...the cherry blossoms are gone! they were gone by last tuesday downtown, even though the national cherry blossom festival ended this weekend, and the few that made it through the weekend are, unfortunately, in the gutter.

crape myrtles provide fall color

clearly i am obsessed with fall colors...but what about these crape myrtles? exfoliating bark...late summer blooms...fall color...what else? oh yeah: seed pods for winter interest. becoming a little over-used but still awesome!
