strawberry festival

well, it isn't exactly a festival, but the one strawberry pot has produced quite a few non-stink-bug-eaten berries this year, creating somewhat of a party- a festival of sorts-in my mouth.

the mister snagged these huge concrete pots from a demo site he was working on right before the backhoe dumped them into the trash: nice job! with my huge oak gone (r.i.p.), the berries are flourishing and taste delicious. i just hope i can pick a few before the birds eat them all: cant believe i cant find my critter cover! i must add a note to my master gardener app: clean the shed.

attention app-happy gardeners: taptilt on-phone magazine app for the iPhone and iTouch are live in apple's app store right now! i authored/produced the section on green thumb apps, completing work on my second app (master gardener was my first one). taptilt is a different type of app though: it is designed to take full advantage of the iPhone and iTouch's multimedia capabilities, and conveys information while exploring topics conventional magazines cant even conceive of. the gardening section includes articles, an interactive calendar and a video. may is the first issue and in addition to my gardening section, baseball, painting app brushes as well as music and gaming are covered. read more about taptilt app for iPhone here, then go to the app store and buy a copy!

seeds for the new year

i was at the hardware store when i saw the rack of seeds: the weather has been so hopeless foul that i actually think i forgot about spring! the snow has finally melted down enough for me to find the seed starting supplies i had left near the back door. now i need to sort my seeds, order new ones, plant the seeds and organize and catalog everything on the master gardener app

my new year's resolution

i dont usually make actual new year's resolutions: i did a "mission statement" years ago after pestering from "seven habits of highly effective people" author steven covey. the mission statement serves as a road map for lifelong goals, and keeps my disorganized self on the correct path, according to me. i re-read it every month and update it at the new year. it works for me, so i stick with it! but, this year-2010-i am making a few short term goals and taking on some individual projects.
1. finish the construction drawings and begin construction for the renovation of my little 110-year old farm house
2. landscape design plan for same with an emphasis on edible plants/shrubs/trees
3. daily stretch
4. design something new EVERY DAY for 365 days
5. post daily to all four of my blogs
6. attend to my sad little dawanda shop
7. work on herban elements and high contrast: my two etsy shops
8. improve the master gardner app for iphone and itouch
9. improve my cooking knowledge/techniques
10. fabricate new line of jewelry monthly
so, i also have to lose a bunch of weight, but no need to actually write that one down.

master your domain with the master gardener app for iphone and itouch! i have been using master gardener for a few days to organize my winter crops and plan for seedlings in january. i have a wish list of edibles i want to grow consistently, and the huge data base of 40,000 plants makes specifications so easy, plus i have wikipedia access for research and link purposes. i have to say: when i typed in 'arugula' i got a blank screen and had to enter it manually, but it was really simple and quick, frankly! i can easily add other gardens to my journal and include my own photos for reference. it is a gardening tool i can utilize in so many different ways! excuse me for saying 'it is kind of awesome!', because my brother, anita and myself designed it after a conversation last christmas dinner...eleven months later-and a lot of hard work- it was accepted into the apple store last thursday! please check it out and let me know what you think: we will try to improve it and version 2 is already in the apple pipeline for release asap. i love my iphone and this is just another reason i cant live without it: please join me!
