today is earth day and the navy introduced a partially bio-fueled version of it's gas hog f/a-18 super hornet called the green hornet. the twin engine jet made its test flight from pax river naval air station filled with 50% bio fuel derived from the crushed seeds of Camelina sativa. the hornet cruised the bay and tried to break the sound barrier.

Well, I must say, I'm impressed. Goodness knows jets eat fuel faster than a three-year-old sucks down a Pop-Tart! I've never heard of this Brassica, but in my defense, I don't think it grows here. I hope the Green Hornet experiment went well enough that other military vehicles will convert too! Happy Earth Day!
ReplyDeletethe navy is actually trying to convert to 50% alternative fuel source over the next few years! cheers to them and mother earth!
